About Our Service
Everything you need to know about how ZeroDryTime works, who we are, and what makes our approach different.
What is the ZeroDryTime dry cleaning method?
ZeroDryTime uses a low-moisture dry cleaning system — fundamentally different from traditional steam cleaning or hot water extraction. Rather than flooding carpets, upholstery, or hard floors with hot water, our trained operators apply a biodegradable encapsulating cleaning solution using specialist equipment.
This solution crystallises around soil particles, breaking their bond with the fibres. The encapsulated dirt is then extracted during and after the process, leaving your surfaces hygienically clean and dry within 30 minutes. The system was designed from the ground up to eliminate the single biggest frustration customers have with traditional cleaning: waiting 24–48 hours for wet carpets to dry.
How is dry cleaning different from steam cleaning?
Steam cleaning and hot water extraction push large volumes of hot water deep into carpet pile and backing. It is effective at removing soil but leaves carpets saturated for 24–48 hours. Poorly dried carpets risk mould or mildew in the backing, and the damp smell can persist for days.
Our low-moisture method uses up to 90% less water, so there is no soaking and no extended drying period. Results are visible immediately, carpets are usable within 30 minutes, and there is no risk of over-wetting, colour bleed, shrinkage, or lingering damp odour.
What services do you offer?
ZeroDryTime offers a comprehensive range of dry cleaning services for both domestic and commercial customers across the UK:
- Carpet cleaning — fitted carpets, stairs, hallways, and rugs
- Sofa and upholstery cleaning — fabric and leather
- Hard floor cleaning — tile, stone, LVT, vinyl, and laminate
- Leather cleaning and restoration
- Commercial carpet and hard floor cleaning
All services use our low-moisture system, with stain protection applied after every clean. Your local operator will discuss the full range during the free in-home assessment.
Are your operators trained and qualified?
Every ZeroDryTime operator completes a structured training and certification programme before they carry out their first clean. Training covers cleaning chemistry, machine operation, surface-specific techniques, stain treatment, and customer care. Operators are regularly updated as techniques and products develop.
ZeroDryTime is a member of the British Franchise Association (BFA), which sets professional standards for franchising practice across the UK. Every operator also carries comprehensive public liability insurance — so you can have complete confidence in who you are inviting into your home.
Are the products you use eco-friendly?
Yes. All ZeroDryTime cleaning products are biodegradable, non-toxic, and free from harsh solvents, phosphates, and optical brighteners. The encapsulating formula breaks down soil without aggressive chemistry, making it safe for children, pets, and those with sensitivities or allergies.
The low-moisture method also uses up to 90% less water than traditional steam cleaning — no buckets of contaminated water, and no risk of over-wetting or environmental runoff.
Is professional cleaning better than hiring a supermarket carpet machine?
Yes, consistently. Rental carpet cleaning machines (such as Rug Doctor and similar) use hot water extraction — the same method that leaves carpets soaking wet for 24 or more hours. They also typically operate at lower pressure and temperature than professional-grade equipment, meaning less thorough soil removal and more residue left behind that attracts future dirt.
ZeroDryTime operators bring specialist equipment, trained technique, proprietary cleaning products, and the expertise to handle different fibre types, stains, and soiling levels safely. The results are measurably better, and the risk of carpet damage from over-wetting is significantly lower.
The Cleaning Process
What to expect before, during, and immediately after your ZeroDryTime clean.
How long will the clean take?
The duration depends on the size of the area, the surface types being cleaned, and the level of soiling. As a rough guide, a single room carpet typically takes 30–60 minutes, a three-bedroom house clean might take 2–4 hours, and a large sofa takes around 45–60 minutes depending on size and condition.
We always arrange a free in-home assessment before any work begins. This allows your local operator to see exactly what needs doing, give you an accurate time estimate, and plan the clean properly — no vague windows, no rushing.
Do you carry out an inspection before you start?
Yes, always. Your local ZeroDryTime operator will visit your property before the clean begins, assess the areas to be treated, identify any problem stains or surfaces of concern, and provide a clear, no-obligation quote.
There is no guesswork, no surprise charges on the day, and no one-size-fits-all approach. The assessment is completely free, with no obligation to proceed. This is how we ensure every clean delivers the right result for your specific home or premises.
What about moving furniture?
We are happy to move light furniture — but this must be discussed and agreed at the time of booking, as it is at the operator's discretion based on what is safe and practical to move. We kindly ask you to remove ornaments, lamps, plants, photo frames, and any fragile or breakable items from the area before your operator arrives.
All furniture moved during the clean will be returned to its original position immediately after, following your guidance. Heavy items — large wardrobes, pianos, freestanding units — typically cannot be moved, but we work around them where possible.
Do I need to vacuum before you arrive?
Yes — vacuuming beforehand is recommended and helpful. Removing loose surface debris allows our system to concentrate on the deep-seated soiling, ground-in dirt, and stains that vacuuming cannot reach. Your operator will advise during the assessment if any additional preparation is needed before the clean begins.
What types of carpet, fabric, and floor can you clean?
Our system is compatible with a very wide range of surfaces:
- Carpets: twist pile, loop pile, cut pile, Saxony, wool blends, nylon, polypropylene, berber, and most synthetic fibres
- Upholstery: most woven fabrics, microfibre, cotton blends, velvets (tested first), and leather
- Hard floors: porcelain tile, ceramic tile, natural stone (marble, slate, limestone), LVT (Amtico, Karndean), vinyl, and laminate
- Rugs: machine-made, tufted, and most woven rugs including many delicate types
For antique, hand-made, or unusually delicate materials, your operator will assess suitability during the pre-clean visit and carry out a spot test if required.
Drying Times & Results
The most common question we get — and the most satisfying answer we give.
What is the drying time?
When we say ZeroDryTime — we mean it. Carpets and hard floors are typically dry and ready for use immediately, or within 30 minutes of finishing. For upholstery and sofas, we recommend leaving 30–50 minutes before use, as fabric holds slightly more moisture than carpet pile.
In almost all cases, everything will be fully dry and back in normal use the same morning or afternoon that we visit. There is no 24-hour wait, no blocked-off rooms, no need to leave windows open, and no need to put the heating on to speed up drying.
How soon can children and pets go back on the carpets?
Almost immediately. Our non-toxic, biodegradable products and low-moisture method mean there is no need to keep children or pets out of cleaned areas. Carpets are walkable within minutes of finishing — typically fully dry within 30 minutes. There are no chemical fumes, no wet surfaces to slip on, and no residue of concern.
This is one of the most significant practical advantages our method has over traditional steam cleaning, where carpets remain off-limits for up to 24 hours and chemical odours can linger even longer.
Will my carpets look better straight away?
Yes — you will see an immediate, visible improvement as soon as the clean is complete. Unlike steam cleaning, where the full result only becomes apparent after 24 hours of drying, our method delivers instant results. Colours look brighter, pile feels revived, and stains are significantly reduced or eliminated right away.
Stain protection is also effective immediately after application, so your carpets are protected against future spills from the moment we leave.
Does professional cleaning help carpets last longer?
Significantly, yes. Dirt and grit embedded in carpet fibres acts like fine sandpaper — every footstep grinds those particles against the pile, gradually weakening and cutting the fibre. Regular professional cleaning removes this abrasive soiling before it causes permanent damage. Carpets that are professionally cleaned regularly typically last years longer than those maintained by vacuuming alone.
Our protective stain treatment further extends carpet life by preventing new stains from bonding to the fibres, reducing the force required to remove them in any future clean.
Stain Removal
Honest answers about what we can achieve — and what we cannot guarantee.
There are quite a few stains — can you definitely get them out?
The products we use are multi-award winning and at the leading edge of professional cleaning chemistry. We will not pretend we have a magic wand — some stains, particularly those treated with DIY products or that have fully penetrated the carpet backing, cannot be fully removed in all cases.
What we can promise is our very best effort using specialist stain pre-treatments, applied by trained operators who have seen every type of stain. If our system cannot remove it, it is very unlikely that anyone else can. Your operator will be honest about likely outcomes during the assessment rather than over-promise.
Do you use a stain guard?
Stain protection is applied as standard with every clean — we add a protector as part of the cleaning process at no extra charge. The protection coats fibres so that liquid spills bead on the surface rather than soaking in immediately, giving you time to blot them up before they penetrate.
We also offer an upgraded premium stain guard treatment that provides enhanced, longer-lasting protection against spills and soiling. Your operator can discuss the upgrade options before or after the clean.
Can you remove old, set-in stains?
Often, yes. Age makes stains harder to remove — particularly if a home treatment was applied previously, or if the stain has had time to oxidise and bond fully to the fibres. Our operators use specialist pre-treatment products targeted at older stains before the main clean begins.
The outcome depends on the stain type, what was applied previously to treat it, and how long it has been there. Your operator will give you an honest, upfront assessment — we never promise results we cannot reasonably deliver.
Why does a stain sometimes reappear after cleaning?
This phenomenon is called "wicking" — and it is a common issue with wet cleaning methods, not with ours. When a carpet is saturated with water during steam cleaning, moisture wicks up through the backing and carries dissolved stain material back to the surface as the carpet dries, making the stain reappear hours or days later.
Because our low-moisture method does not saturate the carpet, the risk of wicking is significantly reduced. If a stain does resurface after a ZeroDryTime clean, it usually indicates a substantial quantity of the original substance remains in the backing — your operator can advise on the appropriate follow-up treatment.
Can you remove pet urine stains and odour?
Yes, in most cases. Pet urine is one of the most common and stubborn challenges we address. Our specialist pre-treatment products target both the visible stain and the odour-causing bacteria left by the urine. For recent stains, results are typically excellent.
For older, dried urine that has soaked deeply into the carpet backing or underlay, we can significantly reduce both the stain and odour — though very heavy, long-standing contamination may require more than one treatment to fully resolve. Your operator will assess the extent of the problem honestly before starting work.
I tried cleaning a stain myself and made it worse — can you help?
Almost always, yes — and you would not be the first. Supermarket spot cleaners can set a stain more permanently, spread it over a wider area, or leave a sticky residue that attracts more dirt over time. Some foam carpet shampoos are particularly problematic.
Our operators are trained to deal with the effects of common DIY treatments. Tell your operator exactly what was used and when — this helps them choose the right approach. As a general rule: if in doubt, blot gently with cold water and a clean white cloth, and let us assess it professionally rather than risk making it worse.
Safety & Aftercare
Our products are non-toxic and family-safe — here is everything you need to know about what goes into your home.
Is your cleaning safe for pets and children?
Completely. All ZeroDryTime cleaning products are non-toxic, biodegradable, and free from harsh solvents, phosphates, and optical brighteners. They contain no aggressive chemicals that could irritate sensitive airways, skin, or paws. Babies, toddlers, elderly residents, and allergy sufferers are all safe in a ZeroDryTime-cleaned home.
Because our system uses minimal moisture and no harsh chemistry, children and pets can return to cleaned areas almost immediately — typically within 30 minutes. There are no fumes to clear, no damp carpet to slip on, and no residue of concern.
Will my home smell of chemicals after the clean?
No. Our products are fragrance-free and leave no chemical odour. Your home will simply smell fresh and clean after our visit — none of the overpowering synthetic fragrances or lingering damp smell sometimes associated with traditional cleaning services. For customers with asthma, fragrance sensitivities, or respiratory conditions, this is a particularly important advantage.
Can you remove carpet odours — including pet smells and cigarette smoke?
Yes. Our cleaning products include odour-neutralising agents that target the bacteria and organic compounds responsible for embedded smells, rather than simply masking them with fragrance. Pet odours, stale smells from food or drink spills, and light cigarette smoke can all be significantly reduced or eliminated.
For very heavy, long-standing tobacco odour that has penetrated the carpet backing, underlay, and subfloor materials, results may be partial — your operator will assess and advise honestly before work begins rather than overpromise.
What should I do after a spill before you arrive?
Act quickly but gently. For liquid spills: blot — never rub — with a clean white cloth or absorbent paper towel, working from the outside of the stain inward to avoid spreading it. For solid or semi-solid spills: gently scrape with a blunt knife or spoon before blotting.
Do not use supermarket stain removers or carpet foam before we arrive — these products can set the stain more permanently or leave residues that complicate professional removal. If in doubt, leave it and call your local operator for advice on what to do before their visit.
Pricing & Booking
Transparent pricing, flexible booking, and no surprises — ever.
How much does it cost?
Pricing depends on several factors: the number and size of areas to be cleaned, the surface types, the level of soiling, and whether specialist stain treatment or upgraded protection is required. We do not publish fixed national prices because every job is genuinely different — and your local operator knows the area and can give you an accurate, fair figure.
All quotes are provided free of charge after a professional in-home assessment. There are no hidden extras, no surprise charges on the day, and no pressure to proceed. You will always know exactly what you are paying before any work begins.
Do you offer end-of-tenancy cleaning?
Yes. End-of-tenancy carpet and hard floor cleaning is a very common request — both from landlords preparing a property for new tenants and from outgoing tenants who need to meet deposit obligations or a landlord's inventory checklist.
Our dry cleaning system is particularly well-suited to end-of-tenancy work because we can clean carpets, upholstery, and hard floors rapidly — often completing a full property in a single visit — and everything is dry and ready for inspection within 30 minutes of finishing. Contact your local operator to discuss timing and what is needed.
Do you offer a guarantee?
Yes. We stand behind every clean we carry out. If you are not satisfied with the result, contact your local operator and we will discuss the best course of action — whether that is a follow-up treatment, targeted stain re-treatment, or further expert advice.
Our operators run their own locally based businesses under the ZeroDryTime name, which means their reputation is personal and their commitment to quality is genuine. They are not employees of a large anonymous national company — they care about every job because their business depends on it.

Specific Services
Detailed answers about the individual cleaning services ZeroDryTime operators provide.
Can you clean sofas and upholstery?
Yes. Sofas, armchairs, footstools, dining chairs, headboards, and other upholstered furniture are all part of our service. Our system is safe for most domestic fabric types, including microfibre, woven fabrics, and mixed blends. Leather furniture is also cleaned using appropriate specialist products designed for the material.
We remove embedded dirt, body oils, pet hair, and stains, then apply a protective treatment after cleaning to help keep upholstery looking fresh for longer. Drying time for upholstery is typically 30–50 minutes — compared to 12–24 hours with wet cleaning methods.
Can you clean hard floors — tile, LVT, and stone?
Yes. Our hard floor cleaning service covers porcelain tile, ceramic tile, natural stone (marble, slate, limestone, travertine), LVT (Amtico, Karndean), vinyl, and most laminate surfaces. We remove built-up grime, product residue, and soiling from both the tile surface and the grout lines, restoring the original finish and leaving floors hygienically clean.
This service is particularly popular for kitchens, bathrooms, hallways, and conservatories. Because we use minimal moisture, there is no slip hazard and no extended drying period after the clean.
Do you clean rugs, including delicate ones?
Yes. We clean rugs in situ — wherever they sit in your home. Our system is suitable for machine-woven, tufted, and most handmade rugs. For more delicate rugs — antique, Persian, Oriental, silk-blend — your operator will carry out a spot test and fibre assessment before proceeding to ensure there is no risk of colour bleed or damage.
Our cleaning process protects colours and fibres while removing deeply embedded soiling that regular vacuuming misses. Stain protection is applied after every rug clean.
Can you clean stair carpets?
Yes. Stairs and hallways receive more foot traffic than any other carpeted area in the home and are the most difficult to clean thoroughly. Our operators pre-treat each tread and riser, apply the cleaning system across the full area, and finish with stain protection — restoring even heavily soiled stair carpets to a standard that makes a genuine difference to your home.
Stair cleaning can be quoted as part of a whole-home clean or as a standalone service. Ask your operator during the assessment.
Do you clean commercial premises?
Yes. Our dry cleaning system is ideally suited to commercial environments because there is no disruption to your operation — zero downtime, no wet areas to cordon off, no 24-hour drying periods, and no chemical fumes affecting staff or customers. We work in offices, schools, healthcare settings, retail spaces, hospitality venues, hotels, care homes, and more.
Commercial cleans can be scheduled out of hours, at weekends, or during business hours without disturbing staff or visitors. Contact your local operator to discuss your requirements and arrange an assessment of your premises.
